Texas Hail Season: Before and After the Storm
Spring storms bring hail to North Texas almost every year. Hail can dent a car, crack a windshield, and beat up a roof in a few minutes, and sometimes you do not see the roof damage from the ground.
Before the storm
- Park in a garage or under cover when the forecast looks bad.
- Take a few dated photos of your roof, siding, and vehicles now, while they look good.
- Ask us how your policy handles wind and hail. Many Texas policies have a separate wind and hail deductible, and it is better to know the number before a storm than after.
After the storm
- Stay safe first. Do not climb on a damaged roof.
- Take photos of everything, including small dents and cracked shingles.
- Cover any hole with a tarp if you can do it safely, and keep your receipts.
- Call us or start your claim right away. Be careful with door to door roofers who show up after a storm and ask you to sign something before you talk to us.
